Outside of that story, none of the others really stuck out in my mind and that story is really the reason for my rating. The characters are good, especially Chaplin Argo who is a nice departure from the usual fire and brimstone Chaplains that you usually get. The Labyrinth' by Richard Ford - A group of the Sons Of Malice traitor marines undergo a test to join an elite group. But this is a really good intro to many of the series the Black Library has going, so it's worth reading just for that - assuming you have any interest in the 40K universe, and if you don't why are you reading this anyway? This anthology features an Ultramarines series tie-in by Graham McNeill featuring the Iron Warrior Honsou, a prequel story to the forthcoming Salamander series by Nick Kyme, a tie–in to the new Imperial Fists series by Chris Roberson and all–new Deathwatch and Night Lords stories, setting the stars ablaze with the fury of the Space Marines.

Finally One Hate is a rare example of an Aaron Dembski Bowden story that doesn't hit the mark, the crime in this case being that it's not very interesting. An anthology of short works featuring the super-human warrior Space Marines and their evil counterparts, the Chaos Space Marines, includes contributions by such popular authors as Graham McNeill, Steve Parker, and Gav Thorpe. This multipart plastic kit builds a Space Marine Captain and four Company Heroes to accompany him into battle. Peter Fehervari's Nightfall, like Ford before him, wrote a fun and exciting piece of horror, but it leaves you with too many questions that begin "why. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.Although the adversities where cool I really enjoy the ending since I predicted what was going to happen and then the author throws a curve ball. Darren Cox's And They Shall Know No Fear was a fine piece of battle writing, dripping with heroism and sacrifice. This is very straightforward tale on crimson fists helping imperial guard while on their own mission. The Skull Harvest" by Graham McNeill, "Renegades" by Gav Thorpe and "The Labyrinth" by Richard Ford are true gems.

This kit contains 90 plastic components, 5x Citadel 40mm Round Bases, and a Space Marines Infantry Transfer Sheet. The sixth story in the book is `The Labyrinth' sees the renegade Sons of Malice Chapter perform their rituals in the bowels of a derelict ship. The penultimate story `Nightfall' by Peter Fehervari is the story of a Night Lords recruitment mission to a corrupted world. The final story in this collection is `One Hate' by Aaron Dembski-Bowden which although good is something of a retread of `And They Shall Know No Fear.

If you read the Ultramarines omnibus then this book contains one story which is more ore less the introduction to possible sequel (The Skull Harvest). This was my first warhammer 40k book, and the only real thing it made me think was "Why would anyone even like the space marines? he most heroic battle-brothers in a Space Marine company often form an elite retinue, sworn to fight alongside their Captain. Ich muss allerdings gestehen, dass mich HEROES OF THE SPACE MARINES dennoch nicht direkt umgehauen hat – so einen richtigen Hammer habe ich unter den Stories nicht gefunden, und mitunter wirkte bei der Lektüre Vieles ziemlich vorhersehbar… und eben nicht ganz auf Augenhöhe mit den Highlights aus dem großen Fundus der in den letzten 30 Jahren erschienenen WH40K-Erzählungen.Each of these warriors are draped in decorations and honours befitting their elite status, and can be built with bare heads or helmets. Fires of War' by Nick Kyme is easily the longest of the stories included in this book and although I feel that the story is somewhat overlong, it is nonetheless quite good. Young men take part in a Chaotic ritual that they don't truly understand, but one thing is for certain: the only victors will be the traitorous Night Lords. Amidst heavy casualties and combat unceasing, a number of Space Marines of the Avenging Sons chapter — currently on "penitence patrol" due to previous dishonourable actions - grow disillusioned with their role in the quelling of a global uprising and decide upon a most rebellious course.
