Norbert is omitted in this version, along with the 6th generation home console versions of the game. With flame-breathed dragons to outwit, diabolical mazes to conquer and even Lord Voldemort himself to contend with, Harry Potter fans are sure to find this latest adventure absolutely enchanting.

Dan Amrich of GamePro and Gerald Villoria of GameSpot regarded the game as a run-of-the-mill adventure title, but considered it to be more challenging than expected, which Villoria attributed to the delay in Harry's Flipendo spell and the erratic enemy AI.

To start the purchasing process, it is necessary to sign in with the Nintendo Account and the Nintendo Network ID. To Harry's surprise, Professor Quirinus Quirrell stands in the final room trying to extract the Philosopher's Stone from the Mirror of Erised. Diversions abound as you solve action-oriented puzzles with Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Albus Dumbledore and a host of unforgettable characters from the now internationally acclaimed J. There's some Quidditch and broomstick flying involved, but the controls for this were rubbish and made these parts a bit of a chore to play.

In terms of following the story of the book and movie, there are points where the game deviates; the importance of Snape's collecting quest is exaggerated and many memorable moments are left out in favour of classes and dungeons which have no relevance to the story.

At E3 2001, Electronic Arts announced its license to publish video game adaptations of the Harry Potter franchise, with titles for the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, and the PC scheduled for November 2001. Boasting an entirely new engine, this Game Boy Advance game showcases rendered elements from the console titles. You certainly can't accuse the developers of trying to short-change the fans, as it seems they've tried to cram as much of the film into the game. Sure, there's some great fun to be had with the game, and the quality of the graphics means players will instantly relate it to the film. All three are excellent---not flawless by any means, but very well executed for the handheld market.
