Description

The Advanced game builds on the framework of the Basic game – all elements of the Basic game are used, but there are a few extra components and rules added into the game to make it more challenging. Everything that was added fits in very well with the theme and the general flow of the original game and it still very much feels like you are playing that original game but with more added to it. The game certainly has some luck involved – namely on the number on the movement die and the room cards that are revealed.

I love that this game is so easily scaled up in difficulty for kids so that it really makes them stop and think about what their strategy should be without becoming so difficult that they can’t play it anymore. In all the times I’ve played Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters, with numerous different groups (all with different mixes of kids and adults), we’ve never managed to beat the game on full Nightmare Mode. I can be The Ogre chasing everyone home to the treasure, we can all be giant monsters trying to conquer Tokyo, and now we can all pretend we’re treasure hunters, fighting ghosts together in a spooky mansion.

For example, the “draw two ghost cards” curse shows two cards, the “you can’t use trap doors” curse shows a trap door with your standard circle and a line symbol over it.

The game is easy to learn and great to play, and it gets the whole family invested and working together. I know Ghost Fightin' Treasure Hunters was award winning a few years back, but see shockingly little recommendation for it. You start out with just four ghosts on the board and the 8 treasure jewels are placed in designated rooms. Jinxed Items get put into your kid’s backpack and fill it up until you are able to get rid of the item by moving to the room with the same letter on it as the token you just acquired. The active player rolls one battle die if he is the only player in the room or he rolls two battle dice if there is more than one player figure in the room. Here you’ll find all our top game recommendations so you and your family can play only the best games together!

When one of these cards are drawn you also draw a card from the Ghost King Deck and move The Ghost King to the room letter shown. They duck in and out of the hallways, into bathrooms and various bedrooms - and they’re bustin’ ghosts along the way. The age recommendation is 8+ but younger players will be fine assuming there are older players to help suggest options – without being too bossy ideally. However, once a Door Locked card is revealed, it is placed next to the board, and all doors of that color are locked until the other color locked door card comes up or when all the cards are picked up for a shuffle. If you have placed the third ghost in a room, you replace the three ghost tokens with a red Haunting token. They mention that it is a great game for the family, as it teaches kids an important lesson in teamwork. This was a game that the kids have been running from room to room pretending to play in real life when it's not on the kitchen table, and something that's challenging enough to keep the attention of the adults in the room. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Now, once a player moves into a room with a jewel, it can be flipped over so that everyone knows which number is on it.
